The arrival of March is always especially welcome on a college campus–and Messiah is no exception–because of the promise of spring and a much-aniticipated week-long Spring Break. Many students travel over Spring Break, either seeking sun and surf or working in service at one of the service proeject locations coordinated by the Agape Center. What are some your favorite memories of your Spring Break escapades?

Undoubtedly, some of your most memorable times at Messiah were spent in the company of your friends while hanging out in someone’s dorm room. What do you remember most about your residential experience at Messiah? What did you and your friends do to help pass the time?

Unless you’re a very recent graduate, the Messiah campus is bound to look a bit (or alot) different than it did when you were a student here. What are some of the most noticeable changes? Did you have a favorite “spot” on campus? Has it changed at all over the years?

No doubt some of your most memorable moments as a Messiah student were shared with friends over a meal. Over the years, the selection at Lottie has certainly changed. What would the students who helped with canning and preserving in the early years think of the extensive food options now available to students?

What were some of your favorite dishes at Lottie? Have you tried to recreate any of the recipes at home?

“Students are more than a number at Messiah. Our class sizes allow for great professor-student interaction.”

When you first come to Messiah, this is one of the first things most prospective students hear. Little did you know that by the time your college experience came to its end, you would understand exactly what those admissions counselors and student diplomats were talking about! Faculty at Messiah are much more than mere educators who walk in and out of your life. They become friends for a lifetime.

As Thanksgiving grows nearer, remember those professors who most impacted you. Share with us who they were and what ways he/she helped to shape your future.

But, you, the former students of Messiah, know that best! Share with us the class that presented the greatest challenges for you. How did you grow from that experience? What did you learn? Do you still use what you learned from that particular subject or professor?

For many of you, Messiah’s campus became more than school grounds. You lived, worked, worshiped, and played here. And soon, just like your Messiah friends turned into a family, Messiah’s campus turned into a home.

Share with us your favorite place to kick back, relax, and spend time with your Messiah family. Where did you and your friends flock to most frequently? Was the Student Union, Eisenhower Campus Center, or Old Main the social hub on campus?

Messiah’s scenic 471 acre campus offers many things to many students, but tell us what made it special to you.

Was it “The Brady Bunch,” “Friends,” or “The Office” that everyone gathered around to watch on tv? (Or, was cable non-existent when you were a Messiah student?) Did you rush to the movies to see the latest Rocky or the latest Harry Potter flick? Did your concert-going experience at Messiah consist of a Geoff Moore or Bob Dylan show?

As the Centennial year dawns, the Messiah College Department of Theatre will be gathering short story submissions from members of the Messiah family. We hope to collect personal narratives from community members with experiences they’d like to share, from their time at Messiah College and beyond – especially stories of forgiveness, reconciliation, and grace. Material from selected stories will be used to inspire an original theatre production to be performed as part of the Centennial homecoming festivities; all contributed stories will also become part of the Messiah College Archives. Please note that by contributing a story, the sender is giving Messiah College permission to reprint it.
