Facebook, Texting and Snail Mail

February 8th, 2011

As devoted as I am, I’m surprised sometimes at how fast my days and weeks go by, and how easy it is to assume my children know I’m thinking of them. So I’ve set a goal to make contact with them on a regular basis, and to do that in a way that is especially meaningful for them

Sometimes that means I send a text on a day when I know they have a paper due. Sometimes it means I try to call them just to tell them I love them. And sometimes it means depositing $10 into their account so they have a bit of spending money they weren’t expecting.

I think tonight I should bake some cookies, package them up, and hope they’re not all crumbled by the time they reach the kids’ mailboxes. But I’ve seen them eat, and I bet even the crumbs would be devoured.
